Our Mission
Building a Strong Foundation to Prepare for Tomorrow's Challenges
Thunder Bay Junior High School serves the sixth, seventh and eighth grade students in the Alpena Public School system. Thunder Bay is the only junior high school in the Alpena Public School district and has a student population of over 800.
Built in 1999, our beautiful facility sits on a 77-acre campus. Thunder Bay Junior High School is a single level structure that allows handicapped access to all classrooms. Our campus includes a forested outdoor environmental study area with a stream running through our property. We have spacious grounds with complete physical education facilities, four tennis courts, two softball fields, track and field course, football field, and three outdoor basketball courts.
Thunder Bay Junior High School boasts large, modern classrooms, fully equipped science labs, industrial arts and life management rooms, music complex, three computer labs, modern media center, cafeteria with a performance stage, gym, and fabulous food service preparation and serving facilities. Staff and students enjoy the technology available in each classroom and share the pride of occupying one of the newest buildings in our district.
